Today is the winter solstice, marking the longest day and shortest night of the year. Luckily, however, the days won’t keep getting shorter – after the solstice, daylight will last longer and longer into the day until the summer solstice in June.

Today, the sun will be setting at 4:33. It may not seem that much later than it has been, but solstices are experienced strongest near the Earth’s poles. For example, many northern regions, such as Scandinavia, will experience 24-hour darkness.

Celebrate the Solstice

The Saint in Asbury Park will be holding a solstice holiday acoustic showcase at 6:30. The event will feature music by over 20 local musicians.

Jersey Shore Style will also be celebrating the Solstice at The Ark in Point Pleasant – just because! Head on over and say “Hi.”
