This Christmas season consider starting a new tradition by cutting your own tree at Anne-Ellen Christmas Tree Farm & Shop in Manalapan, NJ. Just 4 miles west of Freehold mall, this 100-acre farm has an assortment of spruce, pine or fir trees. Santa also comes to visit with the kids on the weekends.
Here are a few tips before you make the trip:
Allocate a few hours for this adventure. The tree cutting is just one part of it. The farm has a Christmas shop and a small animal farm.
Dress appropriately for December weather. The ground may be muddy or snow-covered.
If you don’t have a saw, that’s ok. The staff at Anne-Ellen can provide one.
Don’t feel like cutting? That’s ok too. Their friendly staff will be glad to cut it for you. You can also choose from a selection of pre-cut trees.
Consider purchasing a living Colorado Blue Spruce, which can be planted after the holidays.
If you are cutting your own, plan to have the tree selected before the sun sets, which is about 4:30 pm. This section of the adventure closes after dark.
Tree prices start at $35 and credit cards are accepted. Anne-Ellen Christmas Tree Farm & Shop is open December 1st-23rd from 9:30 A.M. to 8 P.M. daily. Click here for a map. For information please call 732.786.9277 or send email to sangilloandsons@optonline.net.
