Happiness with Scrooge

“Happiness is a clear sky, give me wings and let me fly.” How sweet, huh? This was beautifully sung by Nicole Dawdy, playing Isabel in the recent production of Scrooge, The Musical at the Algonquin Arts Theatre. Isabel is Ebinezer Scrooge’s one-time fiancée who knew better to run — not walk — away from the once-loving Scrooge who turns into a mean-spirited, cranky, and greedy man. Smart lady.

Everyone should see a live production of Scrooge every year — especially when it’s held at the Algonquin Arts. Gary Alan Powell played Scrooge in this year’s production, taking the audience on supernatural journey as his character transforms from “the meanest man in London” to a well-loved kindly benefactor. The play is based on Charles Dickens‘s 1843 novel, A Christmas Carol, and seeing at the Algonquin Arts should be added to your yearly holiday traditions. We love this little theatre!

Coming up next from the Algonquin Arts is a performance of “The Nutcracker,” performed by the American Repertory Ballet. There will be two performances on Saturday, December 15th, at 1pm and 4:30pm; on Sunday, Dember 16th, at 3pm.

The Algonquin Arts Theatre is located at 173 Main Street, Manasquan, N.J., 08736 and tickets are available online at algonquinarts.org, by calling 732-528-9211 or by visiting the Box Office at 173 Main Street.
