Garden State Art Weekend (GSAW) returns April 17–19, 2026

Garden State Art Weekend (GSAW) returns April 17–19, 2026, marking its third year as a statewide initiative highlighting New Jersey’s visual arts community. What began as a regional effort has expanded into a coordinated network of more than 100 venues across 19 counties, positioning the weekend as one of the largest annual art events in the state.

Organized by Manufacturers Village Artists, the program brings together museums, galleries, artist studios, and community spaces under a single umbrella. The goal is to create a more connected and accessible arts experience for residents while increasing visibility for artists and institutions across New Jersey.

Statewide Participation Continues to Grow

The 2026 edition reflects continued growth in both scale and geographic reach. Participating venues include major institutions such as Montclair Art Museum, The Newark Museum of Art, Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, and Hunterdon Art Museum, alongside independent galleries and working artist studios.

North Jersey hosts a concentration of exhibitions and open studios in cities including Montclair, Newark, Hoboken, and Jersey City. Central Jersey features destinations such as Grounds for Sculpture and the Princeton University Art Museum. In South Jersey, expanded programming brings new activity to Camden, Burlington, Cumberland, and Cape May counties.

Kickoff and Festival Hub

A public kickoff event will take place Thursday, April 16, at Lackawanna Plaza in Montclair, offering an early look at participating venues and programming.

Festival headquarters will be based at Manufacturers Village Artists, open Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Visitors can explore more than 60 working artist studios, view the East Orange Community Black Lives Matter mural, and tour the site’s historic industrial architecture.

Programming Across Regions

Programming varies by location, with a mix of exhibitions, demonstrations, and community events.

In Monmouth County, Red Bank and Asbury Park serve as key hubs, offering a range of gallery exhibitions and arts programming. The Ocean County Artists Guild will also host workshops, artist demonstrations, and live music.

Further south, Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center will offer daily demonstrations in glassmaking and pottery, while Sperlak Gallery & Sculpture Gardens features outdoor installations across its grounds.

Connecting Art Across the State

Garden State Art Weekend reflects a broader effort to strengthen recognition of New Jersey’s arts sector. By coordinating programming across regions, the event encourages residents to explore local venues and engage directly with artists. It also provides smaller organizations with increased exposure by placing them within a larger statewide framework.

Garden State Art Weekend runs April 17–19, 2026. A festival guide and map are available online for planning by location and interest.

Until next time, peace.
