This summer, take time to experience the thriving arts scene. From live theater to art exhibitions and cultural events, there are plenty of opportunities to experience creativity and enjoy the scene.

Solve a Mystery at the Theater

One of this summer's theatrical highlights is Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison.

Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles, this comedy puts a theatrical spin on one of literature's greatest detective stories. What makes this production noteworthy is that just five actors play more than 40 characters. Through rapid costume changes, inventive staging, and impeccable timing, the cast and crew work together to create a theatrical feat that keeps audiences laughing while the mystery unfolds.

Whether you're a Sherlock Holmes fan or simply looking for an enjoyable night at the theater, Baskerville delivers. The cast's remarkable versatility and the production team's inventive staging create a fast-paced performance that's as impressive as it is entertaining.

Adults purchasing eligible tickets can receive up to four free children's tickets through the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Free Tix for Kids program, making live theater more accessible for families.

Throughout the summer, Monmouth Arts connects residents and visitors with exhibitions, performances, public art, festivals, and creative experiences in the area.

One upcoming event is The Sun, My Heart Exhibit: Tea Meditation & Meet the Artist on Thursday, July 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at ArtSpace in Red Bank. The closing reception celebrates artist Summer Deaver's exhibition, which explores themes of mindfulness and the harmony of light and darkness through paintings and hand-burnished prints inspired by the writings of Thích Nhất Hạnh. Guests are invited to enjoy a tea meditation, meet the artist, and experience the exhibition before it closes.

Looking ahead, Monmouth Arts' annual fundraiser returns on Thursday, October 29, with "Get Up Offa That Thing."The evening begins with a 5:30 p.m. VIP Cocktail Party at The Asbury Hotel, followed by a 7:00 p.m. Funkadelic Dinner Celebration at Asbury Lanes. Guests are encouraged to embrace the "Funky Chic" dress code—sequins encouraged—and enjoy immersive projections, bold visuals, and the iconic sounds of Parliament-Funkadelic, Earth, Wind & Fire, Prince, Kool & the Gang, and Chaka Khan. A James Brown impersonator and other surprises will make it a memorable celebration of music and community while supporting Monmouth Arts' mission. Click here for tickets.
