American Girls Cécile Rey and Marie-Grace Gardner Visit the Jersey Shore!
American Girl is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and released two new historical dolls, Cécile Rey and Marie-Grace Gardner from 1850s New Orleans, in honor of the milestone. The two were spotted at the Jersey Shore, and these dolls can warm any heart. Their story is about the power of friendship and community as they reach across the boundaries of race and class to help their families, friends, and city during a yellow fever crisis.
American Girl is also launching a number of initiatives and special events and offers to celebrate the 25-year anniversary. There is a first-of-its-kind cruise for American Girl fans that takes place in November (which sold out within three days) and special in-store events across the country, such as summer reading programs, character birthday parties, crafts, and exhibitions. Additionally, in each month of 2011, the company will release one limited edition historical mini-doll, available through their catalogues, website, and stores.
