If you’re in the mood for locally brewed beer, Asbury Park’s Brickwall Tavern is the place for you. It’s one of our choice places; we picked up Ocean Township’s own Kane Head High IPA which goes great with a pulled pork sandwich (ask for extra sauce if you want it sloppy).

Quotes with ‘tude, drinks, and food!  APark neighborhood hot spot Brickwall Tavern is located on vibrant Cookman Avenue. Colorful signs with tongue-in-cheek sayings written in bold print cover the walls (“We’re giving up spellcheck for Lant” caught our eye) along with old black and white photos of bricklayers. High-def tvs hang on the wall behind the bar, broadcasting games and sports news.

Brickwall has over twenty beers on tap, including Kane Head High IPA. As far as food is concerned, sandwiches –  several vegetarian-make up the bulk of Brickwall’s lunch menu. They come with homemade chips, a pickle, and, for the most part, are under $10. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and black bean burger, and both dishes were extremely tasty and filling. Our waiter recommended chipotle mayo to go with the burger, and the smoky heat was the perfect addition to an already satisfying meal.

Brickwall Tavern & Dining Room offers a comfortable atmosphere and good, affordable food. It’s located at 522 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park. Hours are from 11:30am to 2:00am Monday through Friday and from 11:00am to 2:00am on Saturdays and Sundays.
