Algonquin Arts Theatre is celebrating its 75th summer this year, and the Jersey Shore cultural institution is making it one to remember with a Summer Series filled with live entertainment for the whole family. Whether you’re in the mood for comedy or song and dance, Algonquin has the perfect show for you.

The series kicks off tonight with “An Evening with Groucho” in what is sure to be a night of laughs. Award-winning actor, director, and playwright Frank Ferrante brings his critically-acclaimed portrayal of Groucho Marx to life with ad-libs, hilarious stories, and songs. Broadway’s Next H!T Musical hits the stage next weekend (July 20th) with improved and interactive musical comedy. The following week, on Wednesday, July 24th, California-based trio Devil Makes Three brings its unique blues, bluegrass, folk, and ragtime music to the theatre.

August gets underway with the Algonquin’s full production of The Wizard of Oz on the 2-4 and 8-11. The musical performances carry over to the next weekend with Broadway star Carter Calvert’s concert with The Roger Cohen Trio. From singing jazz standards and Patsy Cline’s hits to sharing showbiz tales, Calvert will make August 17th an unforgettable Saturday. The Summer Series ends on August 25th with Gotta Dance! Broadway Meets Hollywood. Sara Brians, the resident choreographer for Broadway’s Billy Elliot combines Broadway and movie choreography into a wonderful evening of dance. Gotta Dance will include pieces from An American in Paris, Chicago, Singin’ in the Rain, and others, all brought to life by Brians and veteran Broadway dancers.
